National Events:

World Bank & Gujarat state:

  • The World Bank Board of Executive Directors have approved additional financing of $ 250 million for Outcomes for Accelerated Learning ( GOAL ) . It is a program which aims to improve education results for children across the state of Gujarat .
  • This financing will benefit an additional 3,000 schools that have been disproportionately affected by the COVID – 19 pandemic .

 

AU small Finance Bank:

  • AU Small Finance Bank has launched an innovative credit card . The AU Bank LIT ( Live – It – Today ) Credit Card offers a unique value proposition to cardholders to choose the features they want and for the time period they want .
  • LIT credit card provides a higher degree of engagement to customers , through the AU0101 app as they can track their saving / earnings daily to maximize their benefits .

 

Droupadi Murmu & Yashwant Sinha:

  • Droupadi Murmu , a tribal leader from Odisha , has been named as the ruling National Democratic Alliance’s ( NDA ) candidate for the presidential election .
  • Murmu , a former Jharkhand governor , will be the first tribal woman to occupy the top constitutional post if she is elected . Former Union minister Yashwant Sinha has also been named as its joint nominee .

 

NIRYAT:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 23 June 2022 launched new portal NIRYAT ( National Import – Export Record for Yearly Analysis of Trade ) .
  • NIRYAT is developed as a one – stop platform for the stakeholders to get all the necessary information related to India’s foreign trade .He launched it while Inaugurating the new premises of Ministry of Commerce and Industry – ‘ Vanijya Bhawan ‘

 

GSAT-24:

  • ISRO successfully launched communication satellite GSAT – 24 from Kourou in French Guiana on 23 June 2022 .GSAT – 24 , built by ISRO for New Space India Limited ( NSIL ) , was launched by French company Arianespace .
  • GSAT – 24 is a 24 – Ku band communication satellite weighing 4180 kg with pan – India coverage for meeting DTH application needs .

 

First airport in the country to run entirely on hydro and solar power:

  • Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport has become the first airport in the country to run entirely on hydro and solar power from June 2022 . This is part of the airport’s goal to achieve the ‘ Net Zero Carbon Emissions Airport ‘ target by the year 2030 .
  • In 2015 , the Cochin International Airport in Kerala became the first airport in the world to run solely using solar energy .

 

Surya Nutan:

  • Indian Oil has developed an indoor solar cooking system – Surya Nutan .It collects energy from the sun and converts the sun’s energy into heat through a specially designed heating element .
  • The product is rechargeable and suitable for four people .

 

Jyotirgamaya:

  • Union Culture Minister G. Kishan Reddy on 21 June 2022 inaugurated Jyotirgamaya – a festival showcasing the talent of unsung performers in New Delhi .
  • Sangeet Natak Akademi organised this festival to showcase the talent of rare musical instruments from across the country , including street performers and train entertainers .It was organised on the occasion of World Music Day on 21 June 2022 .

 

‘ She Is A Changemaker ‘ project:

  • The National Commission for Women ( NCW ) organized a workshop on ‘ Gender Responsive Governance ‘ for elected women representatives ( MLAs ) under ‘ She Is A Changemaker ‘ project .
  • The three – day workshop is being organised in Dharamshala , Himachal Pradesh from June 22 to 24 , 2022 .

 

SEBI:

  • Securities and Exchange Board of India ( SEBI ) has set up an advisory committee on hybrid securities .The committee will advise SEBI on issues related to the development and regulation of primary and secondary markets of hybrid securities in the country .
  • The 20 – member committee will be chaired by K V Kamath , Chairperson of the National Bank for Financing Infrastructure and Development .

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

First aerospace plant in Malaysia:

  • Chennai – based drone start – up Garuda Aerospace has partnered with Malaysian drone solution company , HiiLSE Drones to set up its first aerospace plant in Malaysia . It would be set up at an investment of 115 crores .
  • Founded in 2015 by Jayaprakash , Garuda Aerospace is a drone – as – a – service ( DaaS ) start – up .It designs and manufactures 30 different types of drones .

 

International Events:

United Nations Public Service Day : 23 June:

  • The United Nations Public Service Day is observed on 23 June annually . On 20 December 2002 , the UN General Assembly decided to observe 23 June as this day under the resolution 57/277 .
  • The theme for 2022 is ” Building back better from COVID – 19 : Enhancing innovative partnerships to meet the Sustainable Development Goal”.

 

International Widows Day : 23 June:

  • Every year on June 23 , International Widows Day is observed across the globe to shed light on the rights and social protection of widows . The day was introduced by the United Nations in 2011 to highlight the voices of widows .
  • The day was first observed by the Loomba Foundation in 2005 . On this day in 1954 , founder Rajinder Paul Loomba’s mother Shrimati Pushpa Wati Loomba became a widow .

 

Yaogan – 35:

  • China on 23 June 2022 successfully launched three new remote sensing satellites from the Xichang Satellite Launch Centre in southwest China’s Sichuan Province .
  • The satellites were launched as the second batch of the Yaogan – 35 family by a Long March – 2D carrier rocket and entered the planned orbit successfully .This launch marked the 424th mission for the Long March series carrier rockets .

 

Monkeypox:

  • With 3,417 confirmed Monkeypox cases reported across 58 countries , World Health Network ( WHN ) has declared the monkeypox outbreak a pandemic . It is a viral infection that originated in rodents and primates and is transmitted to people .
  • Symptoms include fever , rash and swollen lymph nodes . Monkeypox is usually a self – limited disease with symptoms lasting from 2 to 4 weeks .

 

International Olympic Day : 23 June:

  • International Olympic Day celebrated every year on June 23 . It is observed to commemorate the founding of the International Olympic Committee on 23 June 1894 by Baron Pierre de Coubertin .
  • The theme for 2022 is ‘ Together , For a Peaceful World ‘. The first – ever Olympic Day was celebrated on 23 June 1948 . IOC headquarters : Lausanne .

 

World Rainforest Day : 22 June:

  • World Rainforest Day is observed annually on June 22 .It is observed to highlight the importance of rainforests and raise awareness of the need for their conservation .
  • The theme for 2022 is ‘ The Time is Now ‘.World Rainforest Day was first celebrated in 2017 by a Non – profitable organization named Rainforest Partnership .

 

” Boramy “:

  • A 300 kg stingray caught in the Mekong River in Cambodia is the biggest freshwater fish ever documented . It is 3.98 m long and 2.2 m wide .It unseated the previous record – holder , a 293kg Mekong giant catfish caught in Thailand in 2005 .
  • In the local language of Cambodia , the stingray fish is called ” Boramy ” , which means full moon .

 

Nuri rocket:

  • South Korea conducted its first successful satellite launch using a domestically developed rocket ‘ Nuri ‘ on 21 June 2022 .It was South Korea’s second launch attempt of a Nuri rocket . The three – stage Nuri rocket weighs 200 tonnes and is 47.2 metres long .
  • The launch made South Korea the world’s 10th nation to place a satellite into space with its own technology .

 

Kuwaiti parliament will be dissolved:

  • Crown Prince Sheikh Marshall al-Ahmad al-Jaber has announced that the Kuwaiti parliament will be dissolved.
  • He said that while the ruling royal family respects the constitution of the country which gives more power to the parliament, it will dissolve it in view of the public dissatisfaction with the parliament.
