National Events:

United Nations Public Service Award:

  • Odisha Capital Region Urban Transport’s ‘Mo Bus’ has won the prestigious United Nations Public Service Awards for 2022 .
  • It has been recognised for its role in ” promoting gender – responsive public services to achieve the SDGs ( Sustainable Development Goals ) ” .
  • The ‘ Mo Bus ‘ service was launched on November 6 , 2018 , in Odisha .

‘ India’s Booming Gig and Platform Economy’:

  • NITI Aayog launched a report titled ‘ India’s Booming Gig and Platform Economy on 27 June 2022 .It is a first – of – its – kind study that presents comprehensive perspectives and recommendations on the gig – platform economy in India .
  • The report provides a scientific methodological approach to estimate the current size and job – generation potential of the sector .

 

BISAG – N:

  • The Ministry of Steel has onboarded itself on PM GatiShakti Portal ( National Master Plan portal ) .It has been done with the help of Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo – informatics ( BISAG – N ) .
  • BISAG – N has created an application through which the Ministry is planning to upload the Geo location of more than 2000 steel units functioning in the country .

 

Inequality of income:

  • Inequality of income in India has declined significantly since Financial Year 2017 , according to the latest SBI Ecowrap research report .It also says that the income inequality in the country has also declined during the Covid – 19 .
  • India’s poverty ratio has also declined to 17.9 percent in 2020-21 from 21.9 percent in 2011-12 .

 

” One Nation , One Dialysis “:

  • Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandavia has informed that the Centre will roll out the ” One Nation , One Dialysis ” programme . It will help patients undergoing dialysis get the procedure done anywhere in the country at any time .
  • He informed this while laying the foundation stone for the Central Government Health Scheme wellness centre at Avadi , a Chennai suburb .

 

PGI-D:

  • Ministry of Education on 27 June 2022 released the first – ever Performance Grading Index for Districts ( PGI – D ) for 2018-19 and 2019-20 .
  • It assesses the performance of the school education system at the District level by creating an index for comprehensive analysis .
  • Sikar , Jhunjhunu and Jaipur of Rajasthan have emerged as the best performers in the index .

 

CBDT:

  • IRS officer Nitin Gupta has been appointed as the new Central Board of Direct Taxes ( CBDT ) chairman .
  • Nitin Gupta is an Indian Revenue Service ( IRS ) officer of the 1986 batch of the Income Tax cadre and is currently serving as the Member ( investigation ) in CBDT .

 

NASSCOM:

  • National Association of Software and Service Companies ( NASSCOM ) has developed a first – of – its – kind Al Adoption Index for India .The index has been designed to assess India’s Al maturity keeping a holistic view in mind .
  • It has been created in collaboration with Microsoft , Ernst & Young and Capgemini . NASSCOM founded in 1988. NASSCOM Chairman – Krishnan Ramanujam.

 

Airborne Defense Suite ( ADS ):

  • Bharat Electronics Limited ( BEL ) has signed an MoU with Defense Initiatives ( DI ) , Belarus , and Defense Initiatives Aero Pvt Ltd , India ( a subsidiary of DI Belarus ) . It has been signed the supply of Airborne Defense Suite ( ADS ) for Indian Air Force’s helicopters .
  • ADS is used for providing protection to helicopters . BEL Headquarters – Bengaluru .BEL Chairman – Anandi Ramalingam.

 

Indian government’s road safety programme:

  • The World Bank on 27 June 2022 approved a $ 250 million loan for the Indian government’s road safety programme that addresses the high road accident fatality rate in the country .This road safety programme will be implemented in seven States .
  • The loan from World Bank has a maturity of 18 years including a grace period of 5.5 years . World Bank Headquarters – Washington , D.C. , U.S.

 

International Events:

NASA:

  • NASA has successfully launched a rocket from Australia’s Northern Territory , making history as the agency’s first commercial spaceport launch outside the United States .The rocket blasted off on 27 June 2022 from the Arnhem Space Centre .
  • It was also the first commercial space launch in Australia’s history. It will travel more than 300 km into space on its mission to observe the Alpha Centauri ‘ A ‘ and ‘ B ‘ constellations , the nearest star systems to the Earth .

 

Zuljanah:

  • Iran launched a solid – fueled rocket into space in June 2022 . Zuljanah , a 25.5 meter – long rocket , is capable of carrying a satellite of 220 kilograms that will ultimately gather data in low – earth orbit and promote Iran’s space industry .
  • Zuljanah is named for the horse of Imam Hussein , the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad .

 

UN Ocean Conference:

  • A five – day UN Ocean Conference kicked off on 27 June 2022 with Kenya and Portugal being the co – hosts .
  • Leaders from over 130 countries from across the world will deliberate for five days to find an international agreement on protecting the world’s oceans , seas , and marine resources .Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh is leading the Indian delegation .

 

India and UK:

  • India and the UK will create a joint Commonwealth Diplomatic Academy programme to train young and aspiring diplomats from both nations .External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his UK counterpart , Liz Truss , announced plans for the establishment of the new academy .
  • This academy will equip young diplomats with expertise and training they will need to tackle the global challenges .

 

Sports Events:

Wimbledon Championship:

  • The Wimbledon Championship began on 27 June 2022 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club in London .No players of Russian or Belarusian nationality are allowed to play in the tournament .
