National Events:

Floating jetties:

  • Union Minister of Ports , Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal launched multiple projects for the development of the Bogibeel region near Dibrugarh in Assam , in September 2022.
  • Foundation stones were laid for construction of two floating jetties at Bogibeel and Guijan.He also inaugurated Bogibeel Riverfront Passenger Jetty which has been developed by the Northeast Frontier Railways ( NFR ).

 

Kargil International Marathon:

  • In Ladakh , Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey inaugurated the Kargil International Marathon in September 2022. It was inaugurated with by flagging off a 42 Km Full Marathon.
  • Over 2000 runners took part in the Full ( 10 Km ) and Half ( 5 Km ) run in the marathon organized by Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council Kargil , Ladakh Police in collaboration with Sarhad Pune.

 

President Droupadi Murmu:

  • President Droupadi Murmu has cleared the appointments of Directors to 8 IITs . Professor Seshadri Sekhar has been appointed as Director of IIT , Palakkad.
  • Professor Shreepad Karmalkar will be the new Director of IIT , Bhubaneshwar. Venkayappaya R. Desai has been appointed as the Director of IIT , Dharwad while Pasumarthy Seshu has been given the responsibility of Director of IIT , Goa.

 

World Bank & Punjab:

  • World Bank has granted a loan of $ 150 mn to help Punjab in managing financial resources. It has a maturity period of 15 years.
  • There will be an initiative to introduce a performance – based grants system to encourage municipal corporations to improve service delivery. Under the second initiative , a pilot project will demonstrate 24×7 water supply in selected areas of Amritsar and Ludhiana.

 

INS Ajay:

  • INS Ajay was decommissioned on 19 Sept 2022 after rendering 32 years of glorious service to the nation.
  • It was commissioned on 24 January 1990 at Poti , Georgia and was part of the 23rd Patrol Vessel Squadron under the operational control of Flag Officer Commanding , Maharashtra Naval Area.
  • It participated in several naval operations including Op Talwar during Kargil War and Op Parakram in 2001.

 

Odisha government:

  • The Odisha government has approved a livelihood action plan worth Rs 261 crore for the regeneration of the coastal ecosystem and to enhance climate resilience among people living on the coast.
  • It has decided to implement this community – based action plan from the current year till 2026-27. This was decided in the steering committee of the Integrated Coastal Management Society ( ICZMS ) meeting.

 

OneWeb:

  • OneWeb has announced the arrival of 36 satellites at Satish Dhawan Space Centre ( SDSC- SHAR ) ahead of a planned launch from Sriharikota.
  • OneWeb has teamed up with New Space India Limited ( NSIL ) , the commercial arm of ISRO to facilitate the launch.
  • The launch will be the company’s 14th overall and the satellites will be put into orbit by the heaviest ISRO rocket , the GSLV – MKIII.

 

KKR and Hero Group:

  • American private equity firm KKR and Hero Group will invest $ 450 million in Hero Future Energies ( HFE ) , the renewable energy arm of Hero Group. This investment would help HFE expand its renewable energy capacity and capabilities.
  • International Finance Corporation ( IFC ) is also an investor in the company , along with Masdar , also known as Abu Dhabi Future Energy Co.

 

First UT:

  • Andaman Nicobar Islands has become India’s first UT to achieve a cent percent coverage of precautionary dose.
  • To date , more than 2,87,216 beneficiaries aged 18 have been vaccinated with a precautionary dose.
  • Corbevax along with Covishield have been administered as a precautionary dose in the islands.

 

Nagaland Prison Department:

  • Nagaland Prison Department has launched a Prison Staff Attendance App has been launched at the District Jail Kohima.
  • The mobile app was initiated by the State Prison Department in collaboration with Excellogics Technology Solution Private Limited.
  • It aims to provide a comprehensive attendance management system that can make processes hassle – free.

 

CM Da Haisi:

  • Manipur CM N. Biren Singh on 19 Sept 2022 launched a web portal named ‘ CM Da Haisi ‘ ( Inform to CM ) , to receive complaints & grievances from the general public.
  • The Public Grievances Redressal & Anti – Corruption Cell stationed at CM Secretariat will use this portal to redress the grievances of the public. Manipur Capital : Imphal. Governor : La . Ganesan.

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

Tamil Nadu & Meghalaya:

  • Tamil Nadu’s health department on 19 Sept 2022 signed an MoU with the state of Meghalaya for capacity building in healthcare services. The MoU was signed by TN health minister Ma Subramanian and his Meghalaya counterpart James P K Sangma.
  • Under this MoU , healthcare providers from Tamil Nadu will train doctors and nurses in Meghalaya to run tertiary care maternity centres.
