National Events:

LCH:

The Indian Army is set to operationalize the first squadron of indigenous Light Combat Helicopter ( LCH ).
It will be based at Missamari air base in Assam and will be part of the aviation brigade tasked to defend the strategically vital western part of Arunachal Pradesh.
Missamari was tasked to defend , among other places , the Tezpur – Bomdila – Tawang – Bum La axis.

Shivalik and Kamorta:

Indian Naval ship Shivalik and Kamorta , participated in the 70th International Fleet Review at Yokosuka , Japan.
In the event an Indian band played Japanese martial music and Saare Jahan Se Achha.
The IFR marks the 70th anniversary of the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force ( JMSDF ) and will include participation of 40 ships and submarines from 13 countries.

Guru Nanak Jayanti : 8 November 2022:

Guru Nanak Jayanti , also known as Gurpurab , Prakash Parv is being celebrated on 8 November 2022.
It is one of the most important days of Sikhism and marks the birth anniversary of the first of the ten Sikh gurus and the founder of Sikhism , Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
It is observed annually on the full moon date of the Kartik month or Kartik Purnima.

DRDO:

DRDO launched Hull Module of Submersible Platform for Acoustic Characterization & Evaluation ( SPACE ) facility at Kochi , in November 2022.
It is a state – of – the – art testing and evaluation facility for sonar systems developed for use by the Indian navy onboard various platforms.
It has a specially designed submersible platform, which can be lowered up to depths of 100 meters.

DMRC & BEL:

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation ( DMRC ) and Bharat Electronics Limited ( BEL ) have signed an agreement. It is for the development of an indigenous communication – based train control system.
The DMRC and BEL have also jointly developed the i – ATS ( indigenous Automatic Train Supervision System ) which is currently under implementation stage.

Gopal Vittal:

GSMA , a global organization covering mobile ecosystem across countries , has elected Gopal Vittal as deputy chair of the association’s board of directors. He has been appointed for a two – year term, beginning 1 January 2023 through 31 December 2024.
He is the chief executive of Bharti Airtel Group. José María Álvarez – Pallete López CEO of Telefónica Group, will continue to be the Chair.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar:

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar will visit Cambodia from 11 November 2022 to attend the ASEAN – India Commemorative Summit and the 17th East Asia Summit.
The Vice President will be accompanied by External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. 2022 marks the 30th anniversary of ASEAN – India relations and is being celebrated as the ASEAN – India Friendship Year.

Purple Fest : Celebrating Diversity:

CM of Goa launched logo of Purple Fest : Celebrating Diversity “.The event will be organized from January 6 to 8 next year in Panaji.
The event will be jointly organized by State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Goa , in collaboration with Directorate of Social Welfare and Entertainment Society of Goa. This first – of – its – kind festival will benefit persons with disabilities.

Yaduveer Krishnaraja Chamaraja ( YKC ) Wadiyar:

Member of the erstwhile royal family Yaduveer Krishnaraja Chamaraja ( YKC ) Wadiyar has been selected for the International Kannada Rathna award. It is presented annually by Dubai Kannadigas to mark Kannada Rajyothsava.
The award will be presented to YKC Wadiyar during Vishwa Kannada Habba on November 19 , 2022 in association with Kannadigaru Dubai Sangha.

UHPFRC:

Scientists at the IIT Hyderabad have developed an affordable Ultra – High Performance Fiber Reinforced Concrete ( UHPFRC ) that is used in the construction of bridges and other infrastructure projects.
The cost of UHPRC is made affordable by optimising the fibre dosage. A team led by S Suriya Prakash, CASTCON Lab ( Department of Civil Engineering , IIT – H ) has developed the product.

International Events:

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina:

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has virtually opened 100 bridges in 25 districts at a time. These bridges built at a cost of over Tk 879 crore.
Of the bridges , 46 are in Chattogram division , 17 in Sylhet division , 14 in Barishal division , seven each in Dhaka and Rajshahi division , six in Mymensingh division , and three in Rangpur division. Capital : Dhaka. Currency : Taka ( Tk ).

Indo – German Week:

The Indo – German Week of the Young Researchers 2022 was inaugurated on 7 November 2022.
During the programme, an initiative jointly organised by Science and Engineering Research Board , India , and German Research Foundation ( DFG ) , 30 promising young researchers from India and Germany will discuss and interact closely on various contemporary matters in chemical sciences.
