National Events:

SKO & BPCL:

  • Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a Maharatna and a Fortune Global 500 Company, has announced the launch of Low Smoke Superior Kerosene Oil (SKO) for the Indian Army in Jammu.
  • BPCL has emerged as the first OMC to commence the supply of the new LSLA grade SKO supplies to the Army, which will go a long way in improving the serving environment and alleviate the issues related to smoke and smell in use of SKO.

 

Minister Parshottam Rupala:

  • Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying Parshottam Rupala inaugurated 29 Mobile Veterinary Units (MVU) and a Centralized call center in Thiruvananthapuram.
  • It is a major step for benefit of the livestock farmers in Kerala.

 

International Events:

Kevin McCarthy:

  • California Republican Party Chairman Kevin McCarthy has been elected Speaker of the US House of Representatives. Divided Republicans held 15 rounds of voting over four days to choose the speaker.
  • And McCarthy, 57, was elected as Washington’s top legislator with 216 votes.

 

Sports Events:

Pranesh:

  • Pranesh, a 15-year-old school student from Karaikudi, Sivagangai district, has won the 28th Chess Grandmaster title of Tamil Nadu.
  • It is also noteworthy that he has won silver in the Commonwealth tournament, gold in the Asian chess tournament and bronze in the under-16 international chess tournament.

Khelo India Youth Games:

  • Madhya Pradesh is hosting the fifth edition of the Khelo India Youth Games. It will be held from 30th January to 11th February. In this tournament, 13 days in eight different cities, six thousand players will showcase their skills.
  • In that context, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will unveil the logo, torch and anthem of Gallo India Youth Games-2022 in a colorful program at Shaurya Smarak in Bhopal.

 

Belinda Clark:

  • Australia’s Belinda Clark has become the first female cricketer to have a statue cast in her honour, a bronze sculpture of the trailblazing former captain unveiled outside Sydney Cricket Ground.
  • Clark played 15 tests and over 100 limited over matches between 1991-2005, and became the first cricketer to score a double-hundred in one-day internationals when she made an unbeaten 229 against Denmark in 1997.
