BrahMos missile successfully test fired
The Indian Army carried out a successful test of the advanced BrahMos Block III Land Attack Cruise Missile (LACM) in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
This is the fifth consecutive time when the Block-III version of BrahMos LACM has been successfully launched.
The missile, installed on a naval warship INS Teg, was fired at a target on an island among a group of other targets. The missile destroyed the locked target with precision.
These tests were carried out in full operational land-to-land configurations from Mobile Autonomous Launchers (MAL) at full-range.
What you need to know about BrahMos?
BrahMos is a product of joint collaboration between India and Russia and is capable of being launched from land, sea, sub-sea and air against surface and sea-based targets.
The name Brahmos is a blended words of the Brahmaputra and the Moskva rivers.

The United Nations General Assembly declared May 3 to be World Press Freedom Day or just World Press Day to raise awareness of the importance of freedom of the press.

Chenab to get tallest rail bridge
The world’s highest railway bridge that is expected to be 35 metres taller than Paris’ Eiffel Tower will be built in Jammu and Kashmir.
This 1.315-km- long railway bridge will connect Bakkal (Katra) and Kauri (Srinagar).
The bridge forms a crucial link in the 111-km stretch between Katra and Banihal, which is part of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla rail link project.

Odisha’s Sualgiri, Swalgiri communities notified as scheduled castes
Odisha’s Sualgiri and Swalgiri communities have been notified as Scheduled Castes following President Pranab Mukherjee’s acceptance.
The President accepts the amendment of the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order (Amendment) Act, 2017.
The SC category status will entitle these odisha communities to reservation in government jobs and admission in educational institutions, besides some other financial benefits.

The most heavy weight museum in india – Tula Bhavan
The museum in Davangere, Karnataka has 3,000 varieties of weighing scales and measures.
The museum has the collections of Wire Gauges and a Depth measuring tape made in Germany and folding scales from America and England originates in India.
Including from the times of the Nizams of Hyderabad, the Mysore Wadiyars, the Adil Shahis, and the Keladis.
Among the prize pieces are wooden beam scales from Mysore, and weighing stones used during the Adil Shah period.

Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, Minister for Information & Broadcasting released a set of books titled ‘Swachh Jungle ki kahani – Dadi ki Zubani’ (Forest Story) published by Publications Division.
The books aimed at creating awareness amongst children would provide a encouragement to the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
