National Events:

Maritime Partnership Exercise:

INS Tarkash conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise ( MPX ) with French Naval Ships in the North Atlantic Ocean on 29-30 July 2022 .Replenishment at sea was exercised between Tarkash and the French Fleet Tanker FNS Somme .
This was followed by joint air operations with the maritime surveillance aircraft Falcon 50 participating in multiple simulated missile engagements and air defence drills .

PRS Legislative Research:

Kerala regained first place in 2021 with the nation’s longest House session at 61 days .The PRS Legislative Research think tank with its headquarters in New Delhi , published the research on the operation of State Assemblies for 2021 .
Karnataka came in second with 40 sitting days.

West Bengal Government:

Mamata Banerjee led West Bengal government has decided to carve out seven new districts in the state to simplify administrative operations .
Earlier there were 23 districts in Bengal which has now gone up to 30 . Six new district names are : Sunderban , Ichhemati , Ranaghat , Bishnupur , Jangipur , Behrampur .One more district will be named in Basirhat region .

Next Delhi Police Commissioner:

Sanjay Arora , director general of the ITBP and a 1988 – batch IPS officer , has been appointed as the next Delhi Police Commissioner . Arora will succeed Rakesh Asthana , whose term ended on 31 July 2022 .
Earlier , Arora was appointed the Indo – Tibetan Border Police ( ITBP ) DG in August 2021 . He has also been awarded the ‘ Police Medal for Meritorious Service ‘ in 2004 .

Chabahar Day conference:

Union Minister Sarbanand Sonowal inaugurated the Chabahar Day conference in Mumbai on 31 July 2022 . Union Shipping & Waterways Ministry organized this conference on the occasion of ‘ Chabahar Day ‘.
This day is celebrated to mark the beginning of the International North – South Transport Corridor ( INSTC ) . The Chabahar port located in Iran will also be part of the INSTC .

‘ Under2 Coalition ‘:

The Punjab government has signed an agreement for becoming a member of the prestigious Global Network called ‘ Under2 Coalition ‘ to check global warming .
With this , Punjab has become a member of the largest network of 221 states of 43 countries committed to reducing carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions .
Punjab is the sixth Indian state to join the ‘ Under2 Coalition’.

Tata Steel & Vande Bharat Express:

Tata Steel to roll out the ‘ First in India ‘ seating system for Vande Bharat Express trains from September 2022 .These are specially designed seats , which can rotate 180 degrees and have aircraft – style passenger amenities .
Vande Bharat Express , also known as Train 18 , is the second fastest train in India , which operates at a speed of 130 km / hr .CEO & MD of Tata Steel : T. V. Narendran.

Tamil Nadu Events:

‘ President’s Colours ‘:

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on 31 July 2022 presented the prestigious ‘ President’s Colours ‘ to the Tamil Nadu ( TN ) Police . It is the highest honour given to the military , paramilitary and police forces of States and Union Territories .
Though it was approved for the TN Police in 2009 , it was not ceremonially accorded . TN is the first police force in southern India to receive this honour .

International Events:

” Ex VINBAX 2022 “:

The 3rd Vietnam – India Bilateral Army Exercise ” Ex VINBAX 2022 ” began on 1 August 2022 at Chandimandir .It will continue till 20 August 2022 . The exercise is a sequel to previously conducted bilateral exercise in Vietnam in 2019 .
The theme of Ex VINBAX – 2022 is employment and deployment of an Engineer Company and a Medical Team as part of United Nations Contingent for Peace Keeping Operations .

World Breastfeeding Week 2022 : 1-7 August:

World Breastfeeding Week 2022 is being observed from 1-7 August . .In order to support and encourage breastfeeding , WHO and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund ( UNICEF ) created a memorandum in 1990 .
Following this , the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action ( WABA ) was established in 1991 . The inaugural World Breastfeeding Week was observed in 1992 .

‘ AL NAJAH – IV ‘:

The 4th Edition of India – Oman Joint Military Exercise ‘ AL NAJAH – IV ‘ will take place in the Mahajan field firing ranges in Rajasthan from August 1 to 13 , 2022 .A 60 – member team from the Royal Army of Oman will join the exercise .
The Indian Army will be represented by troops from the 18 Mechanised Infantry Battalion . The previous edition of this exercise was organised in Muscat in March 2019 .

World Ranger Day : 31 July:

World Ranger Day is observed every year on 31 July .The day is observed to honour rangers and pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while performing their duty . A ranger usually protects forests and naturally protected areas .
This day was established by the International Ranger Federation ( IRF ) in 2007 . 2022 theme : ‘ Rangers are no strangers to diversity ‘.
