National Events:

‘ Mission Kushal Karmi ‘:

  • Delhi government on 6 July 2022 launched ‘ Mission Kushal Karmi ‘ programme to upgrade the skills of construction workers . The programme was launched by Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia .
  • The objective of this programme is to provide on – the – job skill development training to construction workers . Delhi govt aims to train 2 lakh workers in a year under this programme .

 

Akasa Air:

  • The country’s newest airline Akasa Air on 7 July 2022 received the Air Operator Certificate ( AOC ) from the aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation ( DGCA ) .The grant of AOC is the final step for an airline’s launch .
  • Akasa Air will start commercial operations by the end of July 2022 . It is backed by billionaire Rakesh Jhunjhunwala . Akasa Air founded in – 2021.

 

Akshaya Patra Foundation:

  • PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s ( APF ) new mid – day kitchen in Varanasi on 7 July 2022 . This centralised kitchen will enable the APF to serve over 1 Lakh children in 282 schools in Varanasi .
  • It is Akshaya Patra’s 62nd kitchen in the country and 5th in Uttarpradesh . APF is a non – profit trust of International Society for Krishna Consciousness ( ISKCON ) , Bangalore .

 

West Bengal & Sikkim:

  • The governments of West Bengal ( WB ) & Sikkim have signed an agreement to help tourists travel between the 2 states with ease .
  • The agreement will allow West Bengal – registered commercial vehicles to drop tourists at their hotels in different destinations of Sikkim .
  • Earlier , there were restrictions on WB – registered vehicles in Sikkim . This agreement will help boost tourism between the 2 states.

 

” Hariyali Mahotsav ” – Tree Festival:

  • Union Minister of Environment , Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav on 8 July 2022 launched ” Hariyali Mahotsav ” – Tree Festival in New Delhi .
  • The event was organised to create awareness about the importance of trees to protect our environment for present as well as future generations . The festival involves planting 75 saplings in 75 urban forest spaces across the country .

 

Axis Bank & IAF:

  • Axis Bank has signed an MoU with the Indian Air Force ( IAF ) to manage the salary accounts of the defence personnel .
  • These salary accounts will have benefits such as a personal accidental cover of up to Rs 56 lakh & air accident cover of Rs 1 crore among others . The Axis bank will offer ‘ defence service salary package ‘ under its ‘ Power Salute ‘ initiative .

 

RBI:

  • Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) on 8 July 2022 imposed a penalty of Rs 5.72 crore on Federal Bank for deficiencies in regulatory compliance .
  • RBI also imposed a penalty of Rs 70 lakh on Bank of India for non – compliance with certain provisions of Know Your Customer ( KYC ) norms .
  • RBI on 4 July 2022 also imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 1.05 crore on Kotak Mahindra Bank .

 

Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma:

  • Meghalaya CM Conrad K Sangma has announced that government has earmarked Rs 300 crore from the externally aided projects to make investment in early childhood education programmes .
  • The state and has come up with a road map to invest in early childhood education programmes . Different interventions will be made through the programme to ensure that a child gets productive learning .

 

‘ Arun Jaitley Memorial Lecture ‘:

  • PM Narendra Modi attended the first ‘ Arun Jaitley Memorial Lecture ‘ ( AJML ) , by Mr. Tharman Shanmugaratnam , Senior Minister , Government of Singapore , on 8 July 2022 at New Delhi .
  • The Department of Economic Affairs , Ministry of Finance , organised the event in recognition of Arun Jaitley’s invaluable contribution to the nation .

 

RBI’s restrictions:

  • The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) has imposed various restrictions on four cooperative banks . The restrictions have been imposed for six months and it includes cap on withdrawals for the depositors .
  • The four banks being put under restrictions by the RBI are are Ramgarhia Co – operative Bank , Sahebrao Deshmukh Co – operative Bank , Sangli Sahakari Bank , and Sharada Mahila Co – operative Bank Limited .

 

NPCI & JBIMS:

  • The National Payments Corp. of India ( NPCI ) has collaborated with Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies ( JBIMS ) . It has co – created a master’s programme in management studies in digital payments for its employees .
  • The course was launched under NPCI’s ” Learn while you Earn ” higher education programme .

 

Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur:

  • Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur has launched revised schemes of cash awards , national welfare and pension to sportspersons .
  • He also launched web portal for schemes of Department of Sports and National Sports Development Fund website in New Delhi .
  • These revised schemes will provide more transparency and accountability to give benefit to sports persons in record time .

 

Union Health Ministry and Panchayati Raj Ministry:

  • Union Health Ministry and Panchayati Raj Ministry have signed an MoU with the aim to eliminate TB in India .
  • The MoU will forge inter – Ministerial collaboration and strategic partnerships with the aim to achieving the Prime Minister’s ambitious target of eliminating TB in India by 2025 .
  • It will also serve as a milestone to achieve the objective and target of TB Free India Campaign .
