National Events:

IIFL Home Finance Limited:

  • A wholly – owned subsidiary of Abu Dhabi Investment Authority has signed a definitive agreement to buy 20 % stake in IIFL Home Finance Limited for Rs 2,200 cr .
  • This would be one of the largest equity investments in the affordable housing finance segment in India by a financial investor . IIFL Home Finance Limited is a wholly – owned subsidiary of non – banking financial company IIFL Finance Limited .

 

Drone Policy:

  • The Himachal Pradesh government has given nod to a drone policy as it seeks to enable the use of drones and similar technology for different public services in the hill state . The ‘ Himachal Pradesh Drone Policy 2022 ‘ was approved by the CM Jai Ram Thakur .
  • With this new drone policy , Himachal Pradesh has become the first state in the country to formally acknowledge the public use of drones .

 

Anocovax:

  • On June 9 , Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched Anocovax . It is India’s first homegrown COVID – 19 vaccine for animals , produced by the ICAR – Nationa Research Centre on Equines ( NRCE ) in Haryana .
  • The vaccine uses Alhydrogel as an adjuvant and contains inactivated SARS – CoV – 2 ( Delta ) antigen It is also safe for dogs , lions , leopards , mice , and bunnies , according to the company .

 

India’s GDP Growth:

  • Fitch Ratings has revised the outlook on India’s long – term foreign – currency issuer default rating ( IDR ) to stable , from negative and has affirmed the rating at ‘ BBB’. Fitch forecasts India’s GDP growth to remain robust at 7.8 % in FY23 .
  • However , it is a downward revision from its 8.5 % forecast in March due to global commodity price shocks .

 

Rashtriya Puruskar Portal:

  • The Union Government has launched the Rashtriya Puruskar Portal for inviting nominations for various awards of the various Ministries , Departments , and agencies .
  • This common portal has been developed by the government to bring together all the awards under one digital platform . Presently nominations and recommendations for Padma Awards are open till 15 September 2022 .

 

PM Narendra Modi:

  • PM Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development initiatives over 3,000 crore rupees in Gujarat , on 10 June 2022 . This includes the inauguration of seven projects , foundation stone laying for 12 projects .
  • These projects will help in improving the water supply in the region , along with boosting connectivity and enhancing the ease of living.

 

Prasar Bharati:

  • Mayank Kumar Agrawal , director – general , Doordarshan was given additional charge as chief executive officer , Prasar Bharati on 9 June 2022 .
  • Prasar Bharati is India’s public broadcaster and has headquarters in New Delhi . It was founded on 23 November 1997 .

 

Top 30 districts:

  • The 2nd edition of Awards for Excellence in District Skill Development Planning ( DSDP ) was organised in New Delhi on 9 June 2022 .
  • A total of top 30 districts from around the country were awarded for their innovative best practices in skill development . Rajkot in Gujarat , Cachar in Assam and Satara in Maharashtra ranked top three among all participating districts .

 

Sufi Festival:

  • Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department on 9 June 2022 organised the Sufi Festival at Sher – e – Kashmir International Convention Centre ( SKICC ) in Srinagar .
  • The festival is aimed at highlighting and propagating the teachings of Sufis and Rishis in the Kashmir Valley . It is a 3 day festival and was inaugurated by the Adviser to the J & K Lieutenant Governor R. R. Bhatnagar .

Tamil Nadu Events:

FIDE chess Olympiad:

  • Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin unveiled the mascot and the logo named ‘ Thambi ‘ for FIDE Chess Olympiad in Chennai on 10 June 2022 .
  • ‘ Thambi ‘ in Tamil means younger brother . The international event will be held at Mamallapuram near Chennai from 28th July to August 10 , 2022 . Over two thousand players from 186 countries will be taking part in the event .

 

Robot-HomoSEP:

  • The Indian Institute of Technology ( IT ) Madras has developed a robot – HomoSEP , that can eliminate manual scavenging in India . The robot can clean septic tanks without human intervention .
  • This robot has been developed over the last several years by a team led by IIT Madras Prof Prabhu Rajagopal . A total of ten units of HomoSEP have been planned to be deployed across Tamil Nadu .

 

International Events:

NASA:

  • NASA will launch a research rocket from remote northern Australia in June 2022 in the agency’s first blast off from a commercial space port outside the United States .
  • Three suborbital – sounding rockets will be launched from the Arnhem Space Center from Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory on June 26 , July 4 , and 12 . The rockets would focus on the Alpha Centauri A and B star systems .

 

FDI:

  • India jumped one position to 7th among the top recipients of foreign direct investment ( FDI ) in 2021 according to a report released by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development ( UNCTAD ) .
  • The US ( $ 367 billion ) remained the top recipient of FDI , while China ( $ 181 billion ) and Hong Kong ( $ 141 billion ) retained 2nd and 3rd positions respectively . India ( $ 45 billion ) is on 7th .

 

UNGC:

  • Ramkrishna Mukkavilli has become the first Indian to be recognised as the Global Sustainable Development Goal ( SDG ) Pioneer for water stewardship by the United Nations Global Compact ( UNGC ) .
  • It is for the first time that an Indian has been recognised for the position . The Sustainable Development Goals are a collection of 17 global goals , set up in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly .

 

World Accreditation Day : 9 June:

  • World Accreditation Day is observed on June 9 every year . It is a joint initiative by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation ( ILAC ) and International Accreditation Forum ( IAF ) .
  • It is observed to promote the role of accreditation in trade & the economy .The theme for 2022 is ‘ Accreditation : Sustainability in Economic Growth and the Environment . ‘

 

India’s Boats to Vietnam:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on 9 June 2022 handed over 12 High – Speed Guard Boats to Vietnam during his to Hong Ha Shipyard in Hai Phong .
  • The boats have been constructed under the Indian Government’s 100 million US dollar Defence Line of Credit to Vietnam .The Defence Minister is on a 3 – day official visit to Vietnam and both countries also signed a ‘ vision statement ‘ on 7 June 2022 .

 

SAIFMM:

  • India will host the Special ASEAN – India Foreign Ministers ‘ Meeting ( SAIFMM ) on 16-17 June 2022 . This will be the first meeting hosted by India in New Delhi and it will mark the 30th anniversary of India’s relations with ASEAN .
  • The year 2022 has been designated as the ASEAN – India friendship year .
