National Events:

‘ Leaders in Climate Change Management ‘ ( LCCM ):

  • The National Institute of Urban Affairs ( NIUA ) and World Resources Institute ( WRI ) India , jointly announced ‘ Leaders in Climate Change Management ‘ ( LCCM ) , on 5 June 2022.
  • It is a practice based learning program .To facilitate this program , the Administrative Training Institute ( ATI ) , Mysuru , also singed a tripartite MoU with NIUA and WRI India.

 

KPDL & Tata Power:

  • Kolte – Patil Developers Limited ( KPDL ) has partnered with India’s largest EV charging solutions provider , Tata Power .
  • It will install charging stations across its projects in Pune , Mumbai and Bengaluru , providing comprehensive charging solutions to EV owners . Tata Power is India’s top provider of EV charging solutions .

 

10,000 XPRES – T EV units:

  • Tata Motors has bagged an order for the supply of 10,000 XPRES – T EV units from BluSmart Electric Mobility . The deployment of 10,000 units makes this the biggest ever EV fleet order in India .
  • These vehicles are an addition to the 3,500 XPRES – T EV order , which was signed by both the companies in October 2021 .

 

West Bengal Cabinet:

  • The West Bengal Cabinet has approved the proposal to remove the governor as a visitor to private universities .
  • The Cabinet also approved the proposal to make Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee the chancellor of all state – run universities . Now to be implemented , these Bills need to get consent from the Governor before becoming an Act .

 

India & Vietnam:

  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will embark on a three – day visit to Vietnam from 8 June 2022 .He will hand over twelve high – speed guard boats constructed under India’s 100 million US Dollars Defence Line of Credit .
  • During his visit , Rajnath Singh will also hold bilateral talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Phan Van Giang to further strengthen defense cooperation between the two nations .

 

 

NTRI:

  • Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the National Tribal Research Institute ( NTRI ) in New Delhi on 7 June 2022 .NTRI will collaborate and network with reputed research institutes , universities , organizations as well as academic bodies and resource centres .
  • It will monitor projects of Tribal Research Institutes and set up norms for improvement in the quality of research and training .

 

LiFE Movement:

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a global initiative Lifestyle for the Environment ( LiFE ) Movement , on the occasion of World Environment Day on 5 June 2022 .
  • The launch initiated the ‘ LiFE Global Call for Papers ‘ inviting ideas from academics to influence individuals to adopt an environment – conscious lifestyle . The idea of LIFE was introduced by the PM during COP – 26 in Glasgow in 2021 .

 

National Food Laboratory of FSSAI:

  • Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on 5 June 2022 inaugurated the National Food Laboratory of FSSAI at Raxaul in Bihar .
  • This laboratory has been established under the Indo – Nepal bilateral agreement to reduce the time in the testing of imported food samples brought into Raxaul from Nepal . Earlier , all the imported samples were being sent to National Food Laboratory at Kolkata , for testing .

 

Union Bank of India:

  • The government on 2 June 2022 appointed Canara Bank executive director A. Manimekhalai as the new managing director and chief executive officer ( MD & CEO ) of Union Bank of India . She has been appointed for a period of 3 years .
  • She started her career in 1988 with Vijaya Bank and in 2019 she was appointed as an executive director at Canara Bank .

 

Punjab government:

  • The Punjab government on 5 June 2022 announced that it has decided to ban all single – use plastic from July 2022 . The announcement was made during a virtual event on the occasion of World Environment Day ( 5 June ) .
  • A decision to set up 55 sewage treatment plants across the state and to establish the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Punjab State Environment Award , was also announced during the event .

 

 

 

First time in the political history of Odisha:

  • Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on 5 June 2022 inducted 21 ministers including 7 first – timers and 3 women , in the biggest ever cabinet reshuffle in his 22 – year – long reign .
  • All 20 ministers of the Odisha government had resigned on 4 June 2022 to pave way for a reshuffle of the council . This is for the first time in the political history of Odisha that all ministers were directed to quit .

 

UpSchool:

  • SBI Foundation has launched UpSchool , a digital learning program for students from class 1-10 in partnership with Khan Academy , an educational non – profit . The program will be available in English , Hindi and Kannada languages .
  • It aims to reduce learning gaps and build a solid foundation in maths . Every student will receive a digital certificate at completing the program .

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

ICF:

  • Chennai ICF (Integrated Coach Factory) will manufacture high speed freight train like Vande Bharat train which is the fastest train in the country. The first train series will be ready and shipped in December this year.
  • The world renowned Integrated Coach Factory (ICF) is located in Perambur, Chennai. The train sets made here are used by the Indian Railways. In addition, they are exported to foreign countries.
  • The Coach Manufacturing Factory has produced a record number of over 60,000 locomotives from 1955 to 2021. Apart from this, world class Coaches have been manufactured and supplied to the ‘Vande Bharat’ high speed train under the ‘Rail-18’ scheme.

 

International Events:

‘ Ex SAMPRITI – X’:

  • A joint military training exercise ‘ Ex SAMPRITI – X ‘ between India and Bangladesh commenced on 5 June 2022 . The exercise is being conducted at Jashore Military Station in Bangladesh from 05 June to 16 June 2022 .
  • The Indian contingent is being represented by a battalion of the DOGRA regiment . The aim of the exercise is to strengthen interoperability between the two armies .

 

 

Sri lanka’s 21st Amendment:

  • Justice Minister Vijayadasa Rajapaksa has said that the 21st Amendment, which gives more powers to Parliament than the President in Sri Lanka, will be submitted to the Cabinet for approval.
  • The 21st Amendment is expected to repeal Section 20A, which gives the President more powers.

 

Sports Events:

French open Norway:

  • Spaniard Rafael Nadal on 5 June 2022 won the 14th singles title of the French open Norway . With this victory , 36 – year – old Nadal has become the oldest champion of the French Open . It is his 22nd Grand Slam title .
  • In women’s singles , World Number One Iga Swiatek of Poland won the 2022 title.
