National Events:

Dr Subhash Babu:

Prominent Indian scientist Dr Subhash Babu has received the prestigious Bailey K. Ashford Medal for 2022 and the Fellow of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene award for 2022.
He has been awarded for his outstanding research & contributions to tropical medicine. In its 82 – year history, the award has never been given to an Indian scientist or an Indian institution for work.

Rituraj Awasthi:

The Union government has appointed former Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Rituraj Awasthi as the Chairperson of the Law Commission of India. The Commission has been reinstated after a gap of four years as the 22nd Law Commission.
Awasthi served as the Chief Justice of Karnataka HC during October 2021 – July 2022. He was part of a bench that upheld the hijab ban in Karnataka.

AIM:

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) of NITI Aayog on 9 Nov ’22 launched the Women centric challenges under the 2nd edition of Atal New India Challenge(ANIC). These challenges address the major issues faced by women from all spheres of life.
ANIC aims to support technology – based innovations that solve sectoral challenges of national importance. AIM launched: 2016. NITI Aayog CEO: Parmeswaran lyer.

International trade settlements:

The Central Government on 9th Nov 2022 allowed international trade settlements in the Indian currency for export promotion schemes under foreign trade policy. The decision has been taken to facilitate and ease international trade transactions in Indian Rupees.
For this, the banks in India may open special rupee Vostro accounts of correspondent bank of the partner trading country.

TRSNSCON – 2022:

In J & K, a national – level conference will be held at Government Medical College Jammu, from 11 November 2022.
The 47th Annual National Conference of Indian Society of Blood Transfusion Medicine (ISBTI) TRSNSCON – 2022 is being organised by the Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine, GMC, Jammu and ISBTI UT J & K Chapter.
It’s theme is “Trends, Advances and Future Frontiers in Transfusion Medicine”.

UMEED Scheme:

The UMEED scheme of Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) is empowering rural women in the Union territory. The Mission aims to reduce poverty by building strong grass – root institutions for the poor in Jammu and Kashmir.
The UMEED programme under JKRLM is a centrally sponsored scheme to encourage women to be Self dependent and self – sufficient.

Uniform gold prices:

Kerala has become the first state in India to launch uniform gold prices based on the bank rate. In Kerala, gold used to be sold at different prices on a particular day.
Uniform gold price based on bank rate offers an opportunity to the consumers to purchase gold at a reasonable and transparent price.
In most states, gold is priced Rs.150-300 per gram extra over the bank rate.

Kerala Startup Mission:

Kerala has launched a scheme to reimburse the expense incurred by the nascent startups to procure technology licenses from government to commercialise their products.
Under the project titled ‘ Technology Transfer Scheme ‘, implemented through Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), the government will reimburse up to 10 lakh to startups. KSUM is the nodal agency of Kerala government for entrepreneurship development.

Tamil Nadu Events:

‘ Mukhyamantri Devdarshan Yatra Yojana ‘:

Goa CM on 8th Nov 2022 launched a state – sponsored pilgrimage scheme ‘ Mukhyamantri Devdarshan Yatra Yojana ‘.
Under the scheme, people over the age of 50 years are eligible to apply. Destinations promised under the scheme are Velankanni in Tamil Nadu, Shirdi in Maharashtra & Tirupati shrine in Andhra Pradesh.
The state government will take care of meals and boarding of pilgrims during the tours.

Rocket-mounted cryogenic engine:

A rocket-mounted cryogenic engine for the Gaganyaan program to launch humans into space was successfully conducted for 70 seconds at ISRO in Mahendragiri, Tirunelveli district. ISRO has been making many achievements in space research.
Recently, it set a record by sending 32 satellites into space on a single rocket. Subsequently, the Gaganyaan project to send humans into space is in full swing.

International Events:

World Usability Day: 10th November:

Every year, the second Thursday of November is internationally observed as World Usability Day.
In 2022, It is being celebrated on 10th November. Aim: to bring a variety of communities together which can work in making this world an easier place to live. It is also known as Make Things Easier Day.
It was established in 2005 by the Usability Professionals Association. 2022 Theme: “Our Health “.

Aruna Miller:

Aruna Miller on 8th Nov 2022 scripted history by becoming the first Indian – American politician to win the race of Lieutenant Governor ( LG ) in the state of Maryland , US. She will also be the first South Asian woman to serve at such an important position.
Miller is a former executive director of Indian American Impact project. The LG is the state’s highest official following the Governor.

World Science Day for Peace and Development: 10th November:

World Science Day for Peace and Development is observed every year on 10th November to raise the importance and relevance of science in our daily lives.
The main aim of this day is to ensure that citizens are kept informed of developments in science. It was established by the UNESCO in 2001 and was first celebrated in 2002. 2022 Theme: ‘ Basic Sciences for Sustainable Development ‘.

Sports Events:

T20 World Cup:

England has reached the T20 World Cup final for the third time. England restricted India to 168/6 in their 20 overs and chased down the target in 16 overs without losing any wickets.
England was the winner of the T20 World Cup 2010. The eighth edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is being played in 2022. Australia is the hosting country for the T20 World Cup.

Virat Kohli:

Indian star batter Virat Kohli smashed a half – century against England in the T20 World Cup 2022. Virat Kohli became the first batter in history to reach 4000 runs in T20 Internationals.
He has the highest batting average of 87.6 in the T201 world cup. He has Completed 1000 runs in T20s. Highest Average 87.6 in Men’s T20 World Cups.

Women’s world boxing championships:

India will host the women’s world boxing championships in 2023 in New Delhi. It will be the third time that the women’s competition will be held in the country having conducted the championships in 2006 & 2018.
It will be conducted by the International Boxing Association (IBA) & the Boxing Federation of India (BFI). The 2022 Championships was held in Istanbul, Turkey from 8 to 20 May 2022.
