National Events:

White list:

  • Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman asked the RBI to prepare a ‘ white list ‘ of digital lending apps to stamp out those using unethical means to exploit vulnerable customers.
  • Ministry of electronics and information technology ( MeitY ) will ensure that only apps on this list are hosted on app stores. RBI will also be monitoring the ‘ mule / rented ‘ accounts that are used for money laundering.

 

Tata Sons & Air India:

  • Air India is going to dismantle the regional command structure of the airline and shift to a central headquarter as the new owners , Tata Sons , work on consolidating its airline business.
  • The airline currently has 4 regional headquarters headed by 4 regional directors .Air India inherited the regional structure of command from the Indian Airlines after the two airlines were merged in 2007.

 

’Taragiri’:

  • Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd ( MDL ) launched the third Stealth Frigate of Project 17A ‘ Taragiri ‘ on 11 September 2022.
  • This ship is designed by the Indian Navy’s in – house design organisation viz Bureau of Naval Design. It will be fitted with a supersonic surface – to – surface missile system.

 

HDFC Bank:

  • HDFC Bank became the first bank in India to issue an Electronic Bank Guarantee ( e – BG ) in partnership with National E – Governance Services Limited ( NeSL ).
  • An Electronic Bank Guarantee eliminates the physical documentation usually associated with a bank guarantee , and it becomes available in a digital form to the beneficiary . The Bank will migrate to e – BG to benefit all its customers.

 

Pension at your doorstep:

  • The Principal Accountant General office in Mumbai has begun ‘ Pension at your doorstep ‘ initiative. For Pension Samvaad , Pensioners can register their grievances online or on the toll – free number.
  • They can even visit Principal Accountant General’s office on Friday and resolve their issues. Some issues are solved immediately or within 5-6 working days.

 

AN Shamseer:

  • A N Shamseer of the ruling CPM – led Left Democratic Front has been elected new Speaker of the Kerala Assembly on 12 September 2022.
  • Shamseer is the 24th Speaker of the House. Election of a new Speaker was necessitated following the induction of former incumbent M.B. Rajesh into the State Cabinet.

 

Compensation:

  • Karnataka government has announced that the compensation awarded to the families of forest martyrs will be increased from 30 lakh to ₹ 50 lakh.
  • CM Basavaraj Bommai made the announcement after paying respect to martyrs on the occasion of the National Forest Martyrs ‘ Day. During the tenure of B.S. Yediyurappa , the compensation was increased from ₹ 20 lakh to ₹ 30 lakh.

 

Cinematic Tourism Policy:

  • Gujarat government announced the first – ever Cinematic Tourism Policy in Ahmedabad on 10 September 2022. The policy will be effective for five years from 2022 to 2027.
  • Aim of the policy : To promote cinematic tourism through the development of film infrastructure and the creation of attractive opportunities for cinema in Gujarat.

 

Naga Mircha Festival:

  • In a first of its kind in Nagaland , Naga Mircha ( Naga King Chilli ) Festival was organised on 10 September 2022 at Seiyhama Village under Kohima district. The festival was sponsored by the Department of Horticulture.
  • Naga Mircha was the first product to receive a GI tag from Nagaland. The horticulture Department has chosen Botsa block in Kohima District as a focus area for Naga Mircha cultivation.

 

Rajya Sabha:

  • President Droupadi Murmu has nominated Gulam Ali , a Gurjar Muslim from Jammu & Kashmir , to the Rajya Sabha.
  • Mr Ali has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha on the recommendation of the Central government. This is for the first time a Gurjar Muslim from the region has been sent to the Rajya Sabha as a nominated member.

 

MSME Conclave and Exhibition:

  • The two – day National Defense MSME Conclave and Exhibition began in Kota , Rajasthan on 11 September 2022. Defense equipment including T – 90 and BMP – 2 tanks , artillery guns , & various types of sniper & machine guns are being displayed in the exhibition.
  • The conclave will be formally inaugurated on 12 September 2022 by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla & MoS Defense Ajay Bhatt.

 

National Forest Martyrs Day : 11 September:

  • September 11 is marked as National Forest Martyrs Day in India every year. The day is observed to pay tribute to the numerous activists who have laid down their lives to protect forests and wildlife across India.
  • The Ministry of Environment chose September 11 as the day to mark National Forest Martyrs Day in 2013 as it was the anniversary of the Khejarli Massacre ( 1730 ).

 

Tamil Nadu Events:

IIT Madras:

  • International Business Machines has partnered with IIT Madras , to advance quantum computing skill development and research in India.
  • IIT Madras also becomes the first Indian institution to join the global community of Fortune 500 companies , start – ups , academic institutions , and research labs working with IBM Quantum technology to advance quantum computing and explore business use cases.

 

International Events:

SCO:

  • PM Modi will be on a 2 – day visit to Samarkand of Uzbekistan from 15 September 2022 to attend the 22nd Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization ( SCO ).
  • Topical issues of regional & global importance are expected to be discussed at the meeting. Rajnath Singh had attended SCO Defence Ministers ‘ Meeting in Uzbekistan’s Capital Tashkent on 24 August 2022.
