National Events:

AB PM-JAY:

  • Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will inaugurate ” Arogya Manthan 2022 ” on 25 September 2022. It will be inaugurated to celebrate four years of implementation of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri – Jan Arogya Yojana ( AB PM – JAY ).
  • PM – JAY was launched on 23 Sept 2018 with the aim to provide health cover to more than 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable families of up to 75 lakh per family per year.

 

Solar PV Plants:

  • Sterling and Wilson Solar Solutions ( SWSS ) , the US subsidiary of Sterling and Wilson Solar Limited ( SWSL ) , has signed an MoU with Nigerian government , along with its consortium partner Sun Africa.
  • The MoU is for the development , design , construction , and commissioning of solar PV power plants aggregating 961 MWp at five different locations in Nigeria with total installed capacity of 455 MWh.

 

4G & 5G:

  • India will invest $ 30 billion for ensuring last mile accessibility to 4G and 5G services in every village. So far , the government has reached out to over 1.5 lakh gram panchayats.
  • The government is currently looking at 3-4 legislations cumulatively inclusive of the new telecom bill , the Digital Personal Data Protection Bill and the IT Act of 2000 to create an interactive framework.

 

SAANS:

  • The Assam government has decided to use the air pressure machine ‘ SAANS ‘ to reduce neonatal mortality.
  • ‘ SAANS ‘ is a portable neonatal Continuous Positive Air Pressure ( CPAP ) system that can provide lifesaving breathing support to infants in hospital settings as well as during travel. It has been developed by the startup InnAccel Technologies.

 

RSC & CSIR:

  • The Royal Society of Chemistry ( RSC ) and the Council for Industry and Scientific Research ( CSIR ) have signed an MoU.
  • Both have committed to work together on the CSIR’s Jigyasa programme , an India – wide outreach programme designed to promote chemical sciences in schools and universities.
  • The MoU will be a non – financial one and will be time – bound for at least 3 years with an option of renewal.

 

REC Ltd:

  • REC Ltd has been accorded with the status of a ‘ Maharatna ‘ Central Public Sector Enterprise , thus giving it greater operational & financial autonomy.
  • Incorporated in 1969 , REC is a non – banking finance company , focussing on power sector financing & development across India.
  • It was earlier known as Rural Electrification Corporation. It comes under the Power Ministry. CMD : Vivek Dewangan.

 

Lok Manthan:

  • Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar inaugurated the third edition of the Lok Manthan programme on 22 Sept 2022 in Guwahati. The 3 – day event will have discussions , seminars , cultural events and exhibitions which will showcase the rich diversity of our nation.
  • The theme for 2022 is Lokparampara ( Lok traditions ). The 1st edition of the Lokmanthan which focused on Desh – Kal – Sthithi was held in 2016.

 

UPI:

  • UK – based TerraPay has partnered with NPCI International Payments Ltd ( NIPL ) to enable cross – border transactions via Unified Payments Interface ( UPI ).
  • With this , Indian customers with active UPI IDs will be able to transact at QR locations enabled by TerraPay globally.
  • NIPL is the international arm of the National Payments Corporation of India ( NPCI ). NPCI introduced UPI in 2016.

 

BrahMos Missile:

  • Defence Ministry signed a contract on 22 Sept 2022 with BrahMos Aerospace Private Ltd ( BAPL ) for acquisition of additional dual – role capable Surface to Surface BrahMos missiles.
  • These missiles will be acquired at an overall approximate cost of Rs 1700 Crore under Buy – Indian Category. BAPL is a Joint Venture between India’s DRDO & NPO Mashinostroyenia of Russia . Founded : 1998. CEO : Atul Rane.

 

ESSCI:

  • The Electronics Sector Skill Council of India ( ESSCI ) has signed an MoU with Samsung India to empower the youth with industry – relevant skills in emerging technology domains to enhance their employability.
  • It will be a part of the government’s ‘ Skill India ‘ initiative. Aim : to upskill over 3,000 unemployed youth from 18-25 years of age in future technologies such as Al , Coding & Programming.

 

Laxmi co-operative bank ltd:

  • The Reserve Bank of India ( RBI ) on 22 Sept 2022 cancelled the licence of The Laxmi Co – operative Bank Ltd in Maharashtra citing inadequate capital & earning prospects.
  • After this , depositors will be entitled to receive deposit insurance claim amount up to a monetary ceiling of Rs 5 lakh. On 10 Aug 2022 , RBI had also cancelled the licence of Pune – based Rupee Co – operative Bank Ltd.

 

Ekanath Shinde:

  • Maharashtra CM Ekanath Shinde to inaugurate New Ashti – Ahmednagar’s new Railway line which is around 66 km long and part of the 261 km Ahmednagar – Beed – Parli Vaijnath new broad gauge line project. The government of India and the State Government will share 50-50 % of the entire project cost.

 

UP legislature:

  • In a first – of – its – kind historic move , the current Monsoon session in Uttar Pradesh Legislature held a women – only day on 22 September 2022. Only women legislators spoke and raised their issues in both houses on this day.
  • The 403 – member Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly has 47 women MLAs , including 22 first – timers. UP Assembly Speaker : Satish Mahana. UP Governor : Anandiben Patel.

 

CMHIS:

  • Nagaland Government will launch its own health insurance scheme called the Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme ( CMHIS ) on 1 Oct 2022. Aim : to reduce out – of – pocket expenditure on hospital care for all bonafide citizens of the state.
  • The beneficiary families will be entitled to free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family per year. Nagaland Capital : Kohima. CM : Neiphiu Rio.

 

World bank & Gujarath:

  • The World Bank has approved a loan of $ 350 million to the state of Gujarat for spending on healthcare services. It will be specially focused on adolescent girls & disease surveillance.
  • International Bank of Reconstruction and Development ( IBRD ) , the funding arm of the World Bank has sanctioned this loan for 18 years including a grace period of 5.5 years. Gujarat Capital : Gandhinagar.

 

International Events:

International Day of Sign Languages : 23 September:

  • On 19 December 2017 , the UN General Assembly declared 23 September as International Day of Sign Languages ( IDSL ). The day supports and protects the linguistic identity of people who are deaf along with other users of sign languages.
  • It was first celebrated on 23 September 2018 as part of the International Week of the Deaf ( 24-30 September 2018 ).2022 Theme : ” Sign Languages Unite Us “.

IOA & IOC:

  • The Supreme Court on 22 Sept 2022 appointed former apex court judge Justice L Nageswara Rao for amending constitution of Indian Olympic Association ( IOA ) and preparing electoral college.
  • The International Olympic Committee ( IOC ) on 8 September 2022 issued a final warning to IOA to ” resolve its governance issues ” and hold elections by December , failing which the IOC will ban India.
