National Events:

India & Germany:

India and Germany held consultations on United Nations and other multilateral issues on 2 September 2022.
Joint Secretary ( UN – Political ) in Ministry of External Affairs Prakash Gupta led the Indian delegation.
Both sides also briefed each other on their respective priorities for the upcoming 77th Session of the UN General Assembly.

Krushak:

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik disbursed Rs 869 crore for the state’s 41.85 lakh farmers , under its Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation ( KALIA ) scheme.
He assured them of additional aid for crop losses suffered in the recent floods. An amount of Rs 2,000 each was directly transferred to the bank accounts of 41 lakh farmers and other 85,000 landless farmers.

James Webb Space Telescope:

The James Webb space telescope has revealed new detail of a Phantom galaxy which is 32 million light – years away. The new picture was released by NASA and the European Space Agency.
It is called M74 and is located in the Pisces constellation. The Webb image shows the galaxy’s brilliant white, red , pink and light blue appendages of dust and stars swirling around a bright blue center.

EDII:

The Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India ( EDII ) will join hands with corporates to create 10,000 women – led green businesses across 100 districts in the country in 1,000 days.
EDII is a Centre of Excellence recognised by the government. The institute works in collaboration with government ministries and departments as well as India Inc for the implementation of developmental projects.

IPEF:

The Union Minister of Commerce and Industry , Consumer Affairs , Food and Public Distribution and Textiles , Piyush Goyal will visit San Francisco and Los Angeles from 5-10 September 2022.
He will attend the India – US Strategic Partnership Forum conference and Indo – Pacific Economic Framework ( IPEF ) Ministerial meeting. IPEF was launched by USA on May 23 , 2022 at Tokyo.

Madhya Pradesh government:

Madhya Pradesh government has decided to exempt school children from carrying bags once a week and reduce pressure on them.
The Madhya Pradesh School Education department has come out with a lightweight school bag policy.
Under this , a list of specified weights of school bags for different classes will be displayed on the notice boards in schools.

Agricultural Festival:

Nuakhai is an agricultural festival mainly observed by the people of Odisha. The festival is observed to welcome the new season of rice.
Nuakhai is a combination of two words that signifies the eating of new rice , ‘ Nua ‘ means new and ‘ khai ‘ means to eat.
It is observed the day after the Ganesh Chaturthi festival & in 2022 it was observed on 1 September 2022.

’Mahila Nidhi’:

Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot has launched a women – only loan scheme ‘ Mahila Nidhi ‘. It has been launched to ensure the availability of credit to women for starting new businesses.
The scheme will disburse loans of up to Rs 40,000 within 48 hours , and above Rs 40,000 within 15 days. After Telangana , Rajasthan has become the second state in the country to establish the Mahila Nidhi scheme.

Uttarakhand education department:

The Uttarakhand education department launched an e – governance portal – ” Samarth ” in August 2022.
It will provide all administrative & educational updates including information about entrance exams & appointments from 5 state universities & 140 public schools. It has been launched to make the education system more transparent in the state.

UIDAI:

The Unique Identification Authority of India ( UIDAI ) has topped among all Ministries and Departments in resolving Public Grievances for the month of August 2022.
UIDAI , which oversees Aadhaar , has been a top performer in the resolution of cases received through the Centralized Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System ( CPGRAMS ). UIDAI Founded : 2009.

LNG-Fuelled green truck:

Blue Energy Motors unveiled India’s first LNG – fuelled green truck on 2 September 2022. The truck manufacturing facility is located at Chakan near Pune.
The facility was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Blue Energy Motors ‘ trucks will be Liquified Natural Gas – fuelled , long – haul , heavy – duty trucks.

West Bengal:

Statistics released by the National Crime Records Bureau revealed that West Bengal was the top state in the country with the highest number of cases of spreading fake news on social media last year.
A total of 43 cases have been reported in West Bengal. Of these, 28 cases have been reported in Kolkata alone.

International Events:

September 16:

India has co – sponsored United Nations General Assembly resolution that proclaimed September 16 as International Day for Interventional Cardiology.
The resolution was tabled by Argentina. The day will raise awareness about that field of medicine which improves public health and increases life expectancy.

US – Pacific Island Country Summit:

The US has announced hosting the first – ever US – Pacific Island Country Summit. It will be held in Washington from 28th to 29th September 2022. US President Joe Biden will host the Summit.
The Summit will demonstrate the United States partnership with Pacific Island countries and the Pacific region.

Report by Bloomberg:

India leaped past the UK in the final three months of 2021 to become the fifth – biggest economy , according to a report by Bloomberg.
The ranking is based on GDP figures compiled by the International Monetary Fund ( IMF ).India is behind just the US , China , Japan and Germany.
India’s economy is projected to grow at 7 % in 2022-23. India registered a growth of 8.7 per cent in 2021-22.

India & UAE:

India and UAE signed an MoU to establish the Cultural Council Forum to deepen the partnership between the two countries.
It was signed during the 14th India – UAE Joint Commission Meeting in Abu Dhabi on 1 September 2022.
