National Events:

BEL & Smiths Detection:

  • Bharat Electronics Limited ( BEL ) has signed an MoU with UK – based Smiths Detection to offer advanced , high – energy scanning systems to the Indian market.
  • As per the MoU , BEL will handle front – end requirements in the market while Smiths Detection will provide its expertise & screening technology for the project.
  • The MoU has been signed for a period of 5 years . BEL HQ : Bengaluru. Founded : 1954.

 

NEP 2022:

  • Institute of Integrated Learning in Management ( IILM ) University , Greater Noida has launched the first National Education Policy ( NEP 2020 ) compliant law school in the country.
  • The school has been launched with the approval of the Uttar Pradesh Government and the recognition of the Bar Council of India ( BCI ). It has been launched with the aim to elevate the legal education system of India.

 

“VentuRISE”:

  • Karnataka government on 1 September 2022 launched the Global Startup Challenge – ” VentuRISE “. It aims to reward & support startups in manufacturing and sustainability – related sectors.
  • A cash prize of USD 1,00,000 is earmarked for the winners. It is a part of the flagship event Global Investors Meet – ” Invest Karnataka 2022 ” from November 2 to 4 , 2022 in Bangalore.

 

NALSA:

  • Supreme Court judge Justice DY Chandrachud has been nominated as the next executive chairperson of the National Legal Services Authority ( NALSA ).The post was previously held by the Chief Justice of India UU Lalit.
  • After CJI Lalit’s retirement , Justice Chandrachud will take over as the 50th CJI from November 2022 . NALSA Objective : to provide free legal services to eligible candidates.

 

NCR:

  • In Uttar Pradesh , the ‘ State Capital Region ‘ along the lines of the Delhi – National Capital Region ( NCR ) will be developed in Lucknow.
  • It will be developed keeping in mind the future requirements related to urban planning. Lucknow and its surrounding districts like Unnao , Sitapur , Rae Bareli , Barabanki & Kanpur could be included in the SCR.

 

National Wildlife Day:

  • National Wildlife Day is observed every year on September 4th. NWD encourages wildlife lovers to stand up and fight for animals that need a voice, to visit their local zoo and donate what they can to make a difference in the lives of our beloved animal friends.

 

International Events:

Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation:

  • The Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation has announced the winners of the 64th Ramon Magsaysay Award 2022. The awardees are : Sotheara Chhim ( Cambodia ) , Bernadette Madrid ( Philippines ) , Tadashi Hattori ( Japan ) & Gary Bencheghib ( Indonesia ).
  • The award is named after Ramon Magsaysay , the 7th president of the Republic of the Philippines. It is regarded as ” Asia’s Nobel Prize ” . First awarded : 1958.

 

Quad:

  • India will host an official – level meeting of the Quad grouping on September 5-6 , 2022 in New Delhi. It will be the first such ” Senior Officers Meeting ” to be held since tensions with China over Taiwan have risen.
  • The meeting will review progress of initiatives that were discussed during the Quad summit in Tokyo in May 2022. Quad Members : India , Australia , Japan & the US. Established : 2007.
