National Events:

Urja Marg Transmission Ltd:

  • Sterlite Power’s Mumbai Urja Marg Transmission Ltd has commissioned 400kV Banaskantha , Kansari and Vadavi transmission line in Gujarat.
  • It will help in the evacuation of around 1,000 MW of renewable power from the pooling station at Bhuj in northern Gujarat to the national grid.
  • It will augment the available power transmission capacity of the state , taking it from 9300 MW to 11200 MW.

 

Rajasthan government:

  • The Rajasthan government is all set to launch an ambitious scheme to provide 100 days of employment to needy families in urban areas.
  • More than 2.25 lakh families have already registered for the Indira Gandhi Urban Employment Scheme. People from the age group of 18 to 60 are eligible for the scheme. Sanitation, cleanliness and other such works will also be undertaken under the scheme.

 

Giga factories:

  • Adani Group will build three giga factories to manufacture solar modules , wind turbines , and hydrogen electrolyzers. It is a part of its $ 70 billion investment in clean energy by 2030.
  • The factories will help generate an additional 45 GW of renewable energy to add to Adani group’s existing 20 GW capacity , as well as 3 million tons of hydrogen by 2030.

 

NSCS & UK government:

  • India’s National Security Council Secretariat ( NSCS ) and the UK Government in collaboration with BAE Systems successfully designed and conducted the Cyber Security Exercise for 26 countries , in September 2022.
  • It was conducted as part of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative – Resilience Working Group which is being led by India under the leadership of National Cyber Security Coordinator.

 

Kartavya Path:

  • PM Modi will inaugurate the Kartavya Path on 8 September 2022 . He will also unveil the statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at India Gate on the occasion.
  • These steps are in line with Prime Minister’s second Panch Pran for New India in Amrit Kaal. The statue of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose is being installed in the same place where a hologram statue was unveiled on Parakram Diwas 23 January.

 

7th Eastern Economic Forum:

  • PM Modi addressed the Plenary Session of 7th Eastern Economic Forum being held in Vladivostok through conferencing , in September 2022.
  • He informed that in September 2022 , thirty years are being completed since the establishment of the Consulate of India in Vladivostok. India was the first country to open a consulate in this city.

 

IDFC First Bank:

  • IDFC First Bank has signed up as participant in the Open Network for Digital Commerce ( ONDC ) , an initiative of the ministry of commerce and industry , to enable early adoption of the network among its customers.
  • A partner app is released which is expected to help small merchants carry out transactions over ONDC’s electronic network. HQ : Mumbai.

 

ESAF Small Finance Bank Ltd:

  • ESAF Small Finance Bank Ltd launched a ‘ Rainbow Savings Account ‘ exclusively for the transgender community. The ‘ Rainbow Savings Account ‘ scheme comes with a high – interest rate and advanced debit card facilities.
  • The Reserve Bank of India in 2015 directed banks to include a separate column ‘ third gender ‘ in all their forms and applications. ESAF Small Finance Bank HQ : Thrissur , Kerala.

 

NGT:

  • The National Green Tribunal ( NGT ) has imposed an environmental compensation Rs 3,500 crore on West Bengal for its failure in the treatment of solid and liquid waste.
  • The NGT found that of the 2,758 million litres of sewage generation every day in urban local bodies in West Bengal , not more than 1,268 million litres is treated. NGT Established : 2010.

 

Bio-village 2.0:

  • Tripura Government has successfully converted its Daspara village into a bio – village. With this , Tripura has become the 1st state in the country to set up a modified bio – village.
  • Daspara has been developed based on the bio – village 2.0 conceptualised by the state government. This concept has been designed to help mitigate the climate change effects. State Government plans to set up at least 100 bio – villages.

 

Retail Payments:

  • RBI said HDFC Bank ( in partnership with Crunchfish AB ) and Precision Biometric India Private Ltd. have been selected for the ‘ test phase ‘ of the ‘ On Tap ‘ application facility for the theme ‘ Retail Payments ‘ under regulatory Sandbox.
  • The RBI introduced a Regulatory Sandbox ( RS ) in 2019 to foster responsible innovation in financial services , promote efficiency and expand benefits to consumers.

 

International Events:

Barrister Suella Braverman:

  • Indian – origin barrister Suella Braverman is the new Home Secretary of United Kingdom. She has been appointed new Home Secretary by Prime Minister Liz Truss.
  • She has succeeded her colleague of Indian origin Priti Patel. She had served as the Attorney General in the earlier government led by Boris Johnson.

 

India & Bangladesh:

  • India and Bangladesh on 6 September 2022 signed an interim water – sharing agreement for the Kushiyara river.
  • It is the first such pact since the signing of the Ganga water treaty in 1996. This pact will benefit people residing in southern Assam and the Sylhet division of Bangladesh. Bangladesh has a total of 230 rivers , of which 54 flow through India.
